Designing, maintaining and monitoring of a Web portal
Objectives
The Web portal has four functions:
- communication and dissemination of project results, information to expert audiences and the public at large
- networking all information necessary for the construction of Web S&T indicators (including link collections, annotated bibliographies, maps)
- platform for the presentation of work in progress
- platform for testing indicators by monitoring the internal and external information flows.
Description of work/methodology
The Web portal will have its own domain name and will be constructed on a modular basis using state of the art portal technology. The portal will have two parts, a public part and a password protected part. State of the art Groupware tools (e.g. BSCW) will be used. Techniques such as the identification and notification of appropriate email lists (e.g. SIGMETRICS), submission to search engines and individual e-mailing of appropriate scholars and webmasters will be used to raise awareness of WISERWEB.
