Collaboration measurement of e-science
Objectives
Application of general laws in collaboration to the web link structures between research institutions, New indicators for collaboration on the Web.
Description of work/methodology
The project will analyse to what extent link and co-link structures between web pages of research institutions follow similar laws like collaboration networks measured by co-authorship or a co-citation data. In particular, methods to extract gender information will be tested to make gender in collaboration networks visible. In a first part, data available about the link structure of web pages of research institutions (from WP 2/1 and WP 2/2) will be analysed with entropy measures to find specific pattern. Hereby, data from other task forces will be used and analysed under a specific perspective. In a second part, a case study in the field of biomedicine will be designed. The network of collaborating institutions in this field (with focus on the EU Research Area) will be identified. Also the main scientific journals and on-line data sources will be considered. Link structures obtained from traditional bibliometric literature studies will be compared with information obtained by the Web and other information sources. Gender aspects will be investigated by identifying the main actors in this field.
